He’s A Serious Man

This song was written many many moons ago, and rejected by the band I was in at the time saying it sounded too much like Elvis Costello’s ‘Pump It Up’. It was inspired by a real person, a serious man, and sounds more like Only Fools and Horses these days:

Lyrics:
He’s all smiles and he’s all charm
He’s a walking stock shot from the 1980s
He’s all promises, there’s no doubts
He hasn’t got a clue what he’s on about

He’s a nicotine fiend, he’s a sex machine
He’s got image and style, you know what I mean
He’s got hampers, champers, caviar
He’s got two Ks of charlie up his la-la-la-lar

It’s Buy! Buy! Buy! and Sell! Sell! Sell!
He spins the same yarns he knows so well
His heads disappeared so far up his rear
All he can spout is verbal diarrhea
A serious man with only one mission
That’s more, more, more, more, more commission!

He’s a nicotine fiend, he’s a sex machine
He’s got image and style, you know what I mean
He’s got hampers, champers, caviar
He’s got two Ks of charlie up his la-la-la-lar

“Dear boy, there is no room for error, in these days of boardroom terror. Those without a greedy face, don’t survive the human rat race. Heed my words I kid you not, you’ve gotta have your cake and eat the lot. Earthly pleasures are hardly a sin, you see, a deal’s not made until your nuts are on the chin!”

He’s got deals to make and hands to shake
He mixes his words he’s as deep as a cake
He says swings ‘n roundabouts, belts ‘n braces
Look at his shoes there’s holes but no laces
A serious man with only one mission
That’s more, more, more, more, more commission!

He’s a nicotine fiend, he’s a sex machine
He’s got image and style, you know what I mean
He’s got hampers, champers, caviar
He’s got two Ks of charlie up his la-la-la-la, lar-de-dar!
